Introduction

BLOBCAT is a stand-alone Python program to catalogue blobs in a 2D radio-astronomy FITS image of total intensity (Stokes I) or linear polarization (L or LRM). The term blob is used to indicate a flood-filled island of pixels within a sea of noise. Each detected blob may represent an individual astronomical source or multiple blended sources.

BLOBCAT is free software released under a BSD 3-Clause License (open source, commercially usable). To download, see the tab above.

We have made BLOBCAT available in the hope that it (or elements of its code) will be useful for your work. If you find that it is, we would appreciate your acknowledgement by citing our paper and the code.
